The End of Winter: A Song for Xochipilli

The End of Winter
A new poem by Cesar Torres
Is winter ever truly our end?
Music tells us otherwise.
Inside melody, song and poetry,
Time refuses to flow like a river.
It no longer marches
in a straight line,
like ants
on their way to the colony.
Music manipulates time.
And music corresponds to the essence
of
a
Prince
of Flowers
The Lord indeed,
of harmonies, orgasms, stanzas and colors
And it is decreed not by the gods
But it's borne inside thoughts
Human notions
By the children of said beings
And so Xochipilli,
Lord of the Flowers
Whispers rhymes and drums beats
In a place
Where time ceases to function
As expected.
Step Deeper into the Aztecverse
This new poem is the opening chord of a much larger symphony. Xochipilli is the Aztec deity of poetry, music, flowers and queerness. In today's burnout society, it feels as if there's not enough time for fiction and poetry, but I beg to differ.
If you felt the pull of the Lord of Flowers today, don't stop here:
