A New Excerpt from Our Lord of the Flowers

On sharing “My Inner Song, Their Outer Petals”
Today I am proud to share with you a brand-new excerpt from my upcoming novel Our Lord of the Flowers.
The novel is a literary work that weaves together myth, ritual, grief, and gender, drawing from ancient gods and contemporary interiority to explore the life of its ensemble of characters. As a project, Our Lord of the Flowers exists not only as a book, but as an evolving constellation of text, images, and essays that trace the same symbolic terrain from different angles.
The excerpt I’m sharing today is titled “My Inner Song, Their Outer Petals.” It appears early in the novel and introduces many of the tensions that run through the story it tells.
Rather than summarizing the passage, I prefer to let it stand on its own. This excerpt is meant to be read as literature, not as promotional material, and I’ve published it as a permanent page on the site for anyone who wants to encounter the voice and emotional register of the book directly.

Over the coming months, I’ll continue to share essays, images, and additional context around the novel as it moves toward its paperback release in 2026. If you’d like to follow along—whether as a reader, collector, or fellow traveler—you can join the newsletter.
