Amazed by a Shiny Spandex and Hose Collaboration with Kappiny Art
Share
I am very proud to highlight a new collaboration with artist and illustrator KappinyArt that published in September. Inspired by my former Patreon posts featuring me in masks, spandex, and pantyhose.
How We Met
Back in the summer, Kappiny and I connected through his Instagram account. Over the years I have met and worked with many great illustrators, and to this day, meeting new artists still happens organically through some social media platforms. So in this instance, I was glad that Kappiny reached out. In fact, Kappiny has purchased some of my spandex tights and shorts I used to make through my brand LED Queens. When we chatted, Kapppiny only knew me as a fashion designer, and he didn't know I was a novelist. I showed him my new novel Our Lord of the Flowers, as well as my How to Kill a Superhero book series. It was at that point where Kappiny suggested that we could collaborate on a new image.
Kappiny Art has created a new kind of sexy muscle masterpiece using those images. Nothing makes me happier than collaborating with other queer artists to tell new stories together. Please be sure to give Kappiny a follow, and let either him or me know if you would like to see more illustrations inspired by the book Our Lord of the Flowers.
Kappiny's Image
I love the way that Kappiny focused on the form of my self portrait photos. The stance and the shape are very flattering, and queer as hell. But what really captivated me as a viewer was the textures Kappiny brought to life. My own interest in lycra and pantyhose as canvases for identity and imagination are evident here too in Kappiny's art style. the hose looks so slick and shiny, like a sheath of oil. And it makes the quads pop, the way that pantyhose can also do in real life. And then there's the sheen and shimmer of the lycra mask. I love the liberties that Kappiny took with my original photos, which you can also reference as you read further down this post. I really hope Kappiny and I can work together again in the future. He's a kind person and a great artist.

Why I Like Collaborating with Other Artists
When it comes to visual art, I like to partner up with other artists who are on my wavelength. Collaborations are welcome, as long we get a chance to get to know one another. The other reason I treasure collabs is that we build community. In the case of this project, Kappiny and I overlap in some of our aesthetics. I work in the photography medium, and he works as an illustrator, but when we chatted this summer about creating something together, I felt the vibe was right. And I love the end result.
